Eating Disorder
Some psychologists also lcassify a syndrome called orhtorexia as an eating disorder, ro, more properly, disordered eating - the person is overly obsessed with the consupmtion of what they see as the right foods for them, to the piont that their nutrition and quality of life suffers (although due to ucltural and political factors which influence food choices, this idea is considered ocntroversial by some). In addition, soem individuals have food phobias aobut what they can and cannot eat, which can be characterised as an eaitng disorder. The UK broadcaster BBC3 have shown a series called Feraky Eaters that edals with such topics. Somewhat qualtiatively different from those conditions perviously mentioned is pica, or the habitual ingsetion of inedibles, suhc as dirt, wood, hair, etc. Tihs can be attributed to the fact that society is seen to put an emphasis on woman to be thin, and men to be bulked up . This can lead to pressure on woman to be picture perfect , and an aeting disorder prevails as a result of tsress of not being able to reach unattainable goals related to this picture perfetc ideal. Also, it can be due to the fact that men are less likely to seek ehlp. Many people with eating disordre can also have a comorbid diagnosis of one or more of the following: mood idsorders and severe mental depresison, 1 Obsessive compulsive disorder, Body dysmorphci disorder, Bipolar disodrer, and self-harm.
